As I look back across the long miles of this year

There were plenty of toils and tares along the way

But through them all, You were there helping me,

And for this, I give thanks!

As I remember the hard days of this year

There were plenty of sorrows and shortcomings along the way

But through them all, You were there comforting me,

And for this, I give thanks!

As I reflect upon the lost and dying hopes of this year

There were plenty of bullets and arrows along the way

But through them all, You were there upholding me,

And for this, I give thanks!

As I take measure of the seasons of this year

There were plenty of rainbows and roses along the way

And with them all, You were there blessing me,

And for this, I give thanks!

As I find solstice in the changes of this year

There were plenty of prayers and praises along the way

And with them all, You were there listening to me,

And for this, I give thanks!

As I look onward and upward to the coming new year

There will surely be plenty of rain and sunshine along the way

And in it all, You will faithfully be there with me,

And for this, I give my whole-hearted thanks!
